TEACHER'S MESSAGE

We had a fun day of 100 day activities. Ask your child about their 100 day art, how they would fill a 100 year old lady's bucket, the race to 100 and would you rather.

It was great to hear about everyone's weekend. The student's enjoyed reading to their classmates and their friends asking questions about their T.W.A.S. journal entry. It's great to see that students understand the difference between a question and just telling a 'story'.

Parent Teacher Interviews are coming up soon. I hope to see ALL PARENTS AND CHILDREN attend the interview.
We will discuss your child's progress and goals.

LANGUAGE ARTS:

Letter sounds to review at home: p/b/f/v/t/d/a/o/k/g/m/nl/r/u/s/z/i/th/th/qu/sh/zh/ch/w/wh/j/h/x/y/e/KING ED/oo/oo/ou/ow/aw/au

NEW SOUND - /oy/   /oi/ (both sounds the same as in 'boy'). See if your child can tell you the story about "oy, I'm no boy".

NEXT WEEK - 'R' CONTROLLED VOWLES - /ar/or/ir/er/ur/

MATH:
We have moved onto 2D shapes. Can your child identify and draw a square, rectangle, triangle and a circle? Can they draw a closed shape and an open shape?
After drawing a square, rectangle, and triangle, can they identify how many sides, corners (where two straight lines meet), and if the sides are longer, shorter or the same?

OPTIONAL HOMEWORK - Practice counting by 1's, 5's and 10's to 100. Practice counting by 2's to 20. Identify any number from 1-100 (especially confident with 1-20 - the teen numbers can be tricky). Be confident with identifying a number and being able to tell what is one/two more and one/two less.

SCIENCE/SOCIAL STUDIES:

We are moving on to the Building Things Unit. Mr. Ray is leading this Unit. We have begun to work on these concept words - construct, materials and purpose.

OPTIONAL HOMEWORK - Look around your house for items that are built. Identify the item (couch), the materials that were used (fabric, wood, metal) and the purpose (to have a comfy place to sit). Have fun!!

GYM:
We practiced some volleyball skills. Then we also have Dance Strong in the next few weeks too - dancing/grooving/exercising to music.
